VCDS and RNS question

Running an A version rns with 2720 update. Is that the latest version? If not, will it take a higher update? Heard that certain firmware will display air con temps? Is that possible on the mk5? And is advisable to get an official VCDS program? Saw it in vw driver but it's £259!! Seems silly to spend so much as I won't use it that often :stupid:

You wont get the aircon display unless you switch the aircon unit to the Mk6 version as Mortty has done, not sure about the firmware options on an A unit.  As for VCDS IMO you buy the full offical version or it isn't worthwhile think it can be had for less than £270.

Has Rich said no visual aircon unless you have mk6 climate panel,  you can get cheaper cable just for mk5 based cars I think I paid about £160 direct from Ross Tech in the US not sure the likes of Gendan are any cheaper even though they are in the UK.
