Main dealer cambelt service prices?
« on: November 17, 2010, 03:15:04 pm »
Hi guys, while I was at the main dealer today (watford) I had a little chat with them about getting the cambelt and waterpump done on my 06 gti.  They said they would price match.  They are looking for £299 for the cambelt service and an additional £100 for the waterpump.

How much have you guys paid in the past? Ideally local(ish).

Cheers! Paul

I think that price of £299 is pretty standard throughout the main dealer network, not a bad price! :happy2:

I paid £299 for my cambelt change.  It did start off a lot higher but they price matched another dealer.

I had prices of £300 for cambelt and and rollers tensioner etc and 400 including water pump at cheltenham VW, went to Cirencester VW as they offered either £320 for belt and tensioner or £350 for everything including water pump and courtesy car! (i went for the £350 option) Think this is your std target price, i do think some of the VW dealers Op Noorth will do cheaper but difficult to get below £350 all up Daawn Soouth.

£299.00 is a good price but an extra £100.00 for the water pump is a bit steep, think it's only around £50.00 max & cam belt needs to come off to replace so don't see how it's an extra £50.00 on top of part price when they have it in bits?

They have the £299 pound offer in my local VW but it exclues the 2.0 TFSI as they say there's more work involved - I had a quote of £550 for CAM belt + waterpump and they then reduced that to £450

I had the £299 deal from my VW dealer on TFSI, and I dont see what extra work would be involved, ring around you should get it done for £299.
