Wheel Snow Socks
« on: November 28, 2010, 08:57:28 pm »
Been keeping a close I on the thread regarding Winter Tyres,  as a back up what are the Snow socks like.  i know you can only use them them when snow is on the ground and that they will shread on tarmac .   I have family living in spain , their local Lidels  have them for 26€ .  i have looked in the internet and they seem to be going for aoround £50 mark in the UK .

Are they worth having as back up and do they really work ????.  they are driving back to the UK Tuesday and want to know if I want any bringing back .   In the region of spain she is ,  the poilce will only allow vehicles with either chains or this socks on in very bad conditions on the moterway.

Has any body on here used them last year

some of my mates used them last year, had good reports from them,

although they are ment to be a get you home thing rather than driving all week in snow with them on i think

like if you get stranded at the shops you put them on to drive home then take them of, i dont no what theyd be like in the long term?

gti265 is bang on, they are an emergency last resort job really.  they work well on snow and are a doddle to put on, but as soon as you hit a cleared road you need to pull over and remove them or they literally rip apart, which isnt good because they are not cheap
