What is the advantage of buying some coilovers over a set of say Eibach sportlines say? Is it just that they are adjustable or what? Thanks

With coilovers you get a firmer/softer ride.
You can get them with adjustable dampening.
And adjustable ride height.

You get ride height adjustability allowing proper corner weighting and height settings, adjustable damping to suite preference and needs. But this is flexibility you should also get a better shock and spring. Especially if you talking Bilstein or KW

Primarily you should be looking for the shock spring upgrade coilovers allow you to have flexibility on top
