Squealing brake
« on: March 24, 2009, 11:15:03 pm »
Drove back to brum today. Total of 160miles. 140 miles after I'd left work, I braked and the car felt funny whilst braking. Carried on and later had to break.

Huge squealing noise from rear nearside wheel.

A few more test brakes and I'm still getting the squeal.

I remember vaguely about this being mentioned before. Is it some kinda stone chip caught in the brakes? OR is it something else?
Other brakes seem to be okay and I definitely didn't have problems earlier during the journey (had to brake from 70mph down to 20 because of some muppet).

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I would look carefully for a stone stuck between the disc and brake sheild.
Without traction power is nothing!
