Head Unit Change
« on: August 28, 2011, 09:49:55 pm »
Hi guys over the next few months im planning to upgrade to highline cluster and steering wheel controls.

Few reasons for it mainly being i want the rns510 unit

I currently have this in my car just now. (this is my old mk5 gt)

This unit is working fine and all the functions are great on it. Ipod, phone etc
Im able to play my music videos and movies through it from my ipod

If i do eventually get a rns510 unit can i still play my movies and videos from my ipod through it.
I know i'll need adaptors etc

How do i connect the steering wheel controls up to it and would the track names etc appear on the cluster.

Cheers for yer help folks. Much appreciate it

The RNS510 can do a lot of things but can't do everything. Music is mp3 or wma only. Video is from the dvd drive and must be a standard dvd. Nothing else.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Thats a bummer. There cracking head units but i love being able to play movies and music videos from my ipod on the unit.

Think in that case i might save up for one of these
