New Laptop for my sis. Have a peep at this!
« on: October 18, 2011, 09:21:08 am »
Well I'm going to Italy in November and my sisters vaio has gone pop. She's had it looked at, and long story short....she's wanting a new one. :happy2:

I saw this Hp a few weeks ago on eBay. It seems like a real winner to me, and tbh if I hadn't have gone mac I'm sure I would have had one myself.

I just thought I would ask your opinions on it first....if u don't mind?

Is it as good a spec/deal as I think it is? (for £299) or should I be buying something else for around the same value?

Anyway, here is the link....

If you're thinking about getting that, if I were you I'd pay the extra £19 and get the i3 version.  :happy2:

That one only has a 2GB RAM, the one on eBay has 4GB RAM. Isn't more better?  :signLOL:

At the bottom of the eBay listing, there is a good question.

Q: Is this laptop eligible for the £150 trade-in that I have seen advertised on the HP website?
A: Hi yes this laptop qualifies for the "up to £150 Trade In" Deal from HP Please see HP's website for more details the part code is : LW767ES#ABU Thanks

Maybe your sister could trade the Vaio in?

Might be wrong but I think it has to be a working laptop.

the laptop has to be working and above 12"

Also RAM and HDD can be upgraded, processor and GPU cannot.

I ordered the i3 version for my aunty, lucky for me im getting £100 cashback on it due to HP not removing it from their t&c's quick enough.

Its one of the best i3 for the price out at the moment.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback   :notworthy:

Could really do with at least 4gb nowadays though. Does anyone know how much the upgrade would cost on the i3 model?

Also the model I posted, with the Intel Celeron B810 Dual Core has a clock speed of 1.6ghz. Is that the max speed? Is there a turbo boost on it?
I know both processors feature Sandy Bridge Architecture, and are supposed to be great, but.....

...Do you think the Intel i3 version with 2gb Ram and Win7HomePrem is still more favourable than the Dual core Intel with 4gb Ram and Win7Pro64bit (and £20 less)???

Ed, do you mean you got the i3 ProBook for £219???  :jumping:   :congrats:

i did  :jumping:

The i3 is 20x better than the rubbish celeron.

i3 = 2 thread per core + higher clock speed. Extra 1mb of cashe

Ram is cheap as chips and trust me an i3 with 2gb of ram is a much better buy than a celeron any day.

2gb for browsing the web and pottering round on internet is fine. If you get it drop me a pm and ill find you a nice 2gb stick to swap out giving you 3gb if you find it far to slow.
