« on: October 23, 2011, 10:46:17 am »
Hi, i want to remove my fog covers and have found how to guides but they make it look very simple.

Mine are well stuck in there any one else find an easier way its the gt grills but i am guessing mounting points same on gti also.

They feel like its gona snap before it will pop out, i havnt removed the bumper just the screw in the grill.

Thanks Neil

It "should" just pull out once the screw has been removed.
If you have some WD40 or the like, try pulling on the grill and as you see a gap appearing between the grill and the bumper spray some WD using the little tube, this "should" make it easier to remove.

There are no other fixing other than the single screw and is attached by the little tabs so it will come loose with a little effort.

Replaced mine with some open fog grilles i got off here yesterday and they do make some popping and cracking noises as you pry them out, just need to remove the screw and start pulling at one edge till you hear the first clip release then work your way round, just takes a bit of brute force but they do give quite a bit and flex so can take some pulling to get off  :happy2:
