I'm so glad its not just me thinking the same about mpg on a Gti with Dsg - mine is bog standard.

I have averaged 26mpg over 12 months of various driving - short / long / quick / cruise etc etc and cant seem to get it any higher unless crusing on the motorway @ 70mph a for an hour etc .

Coil packs & plugs changed , recent service etc , dsg serviced in fact everything done that needs to be done . Car has done 46k .

I was expecting more tbh but I just assumed that was the best it was going to be , until reading this post .

If youve been putting 95 octane, then you should see a raise of about 2-3 mpg. If you drive sensibly of course

100% hadly used sport at all, as i said mainly just use D and manual.....

If i was using sport all the time i would expect crap fuel econamy.....but i really have been driving it sensibly
With the odd blatt, just had the dsg oil change done on sat and it had the coils changed before i bought it.

Going to try vagcom and see what the maf sensor is doing.

Unless your experiencing massive performance loss, I doubt it's the MAF!

Unplug it and go for a drive. If it's fubar the car will run fine. Plug it back in and if your problems start you know.

You will need VCDS to clear your engine light but it wont damage the car.

I went from my Manual Edition 30 to an A3 2.0T S-tronic (DSG). The A3 gets comfortably 4-5 mpg less than i could get with the eddy. Same roads same times same style of driving.

Managed a highly impressive 18 mpg on the way home the other week - 13 mile commute followed by a good shoeing up the back road!

Best i seen with the eddy was 38 mpg on the way to work in the morning - car was running on fumes and i didnt have time to fill up so was driving in super eco mode. Best ive ever managed in the A3 has been 33mpg.

Bottom line - DSG = Muches more fuel!

I've been driving up the M1 every day for work, covering approx. 64 miles per day. Due to the road works for width improvements between Junc10 & Junc14-ish you can really got fast. I've managed to get 527 miles out of one tank from a standard manuel ED30...................yes 527!!!

That's doing 50mph through the road works and keeping to the speed limits until I hit the M1 which I live near. One tank can last 8 days for purely work and back journeys.

Safe to say I put my foot down when I get the chance to balance out the karma ;-)
