hi everyone, whilst changing my headlight bulbs last night i noticed a small amount of oil on the engine. it looks like its coming from under the rocker cover. how much is a new gasket, and roughly how much labour we talking?
Cheers

Have you visually confirmed that the gasket is leaking and this oil isn't over spill from when topping up your oil?

No but the oil was black so didnt think it was from topping up. ive cleaned as much of it off as i could and im going to keep my eye on it. I just wondered how much of a problem it was and a rough cost to repair it
cheers

Most places would charge between 30 mins to an hour, but I can't remember the price if the gasket.

Mine also has some residue front left corner. Doesn't seem to be consuming much though. I'm going to keep an eye on it. Rocker cover is comming off this week so I may aswel do gasket.
Will let you know if the oil doesn't return

yeah thats where mine is coming from, front left corner. I havent noticed any difference in consumption either, its always been fairly thirsty for oil, but well within vw's tolerences
