Rear Seat Belt - Part of Back Rest - Removal - Now Fixed
« on: September 09, 2009, 07:58:56 pm »
As some of you may know, the Edition 30 seats i got were missing the rear buckle for the seat belts that is attached to the belt on the rear back rest section.

I have located the part required from ETKA (1K6 857 807 M RAA).

However, i cannot figure out how to remove the old system. The new part includes the seat belt return mechanism and clasp/buckle that is all internal into the rear back rest.

Surely, if the part is available seperately then it must be possible to remove it?

Does anyone have any ideas? ETKA isnt really very clear on removal/fitting of this part.  :happy2:

Someone has told me that the entire back rest needs to be disassembled. Can anyone confirm?

Got the replacement seat belt unit on Monday night from someone on Club GTI that works in the parts department at Coventry Listers.

Took the rear bench apart last night and managed to fit the complete new belt unit. Pain in the arse job, never hope to do it again, but its now sorted and i have a car that will pass the MOT next year.
