Tom's MK5 GTSport MOAR PICS
« on: July 05, 2014, 11:10:34 am »
Hey everyone...

So i recently popped my head up in the n00bs section and as i said here's my build thread!
I got this car in Feb 2013 after much talks with my dad (VW Mechanic for 15/20 years and owner of VW's for the past 30!) and with the guys at VW whom we know well and they said the Diesel was the way to go. Being someone who likes to brag and be seen there was no way i was going to have a just a 1.9 TDi or a 2.0 TDi with no flash badge on it so i scoured the Forecourts of many VW garages and the lads at my local VW found me the car i have from Cambridge...

It's a 2008 (57 plate) Mk5 GTSport 140 (Remapped now to approx 180 but not tested) in black magic and when i got the car is had 39k on the clock
It's got the luxury pack 1 with heated full leather interior, steering wheel controls and electric bolster support. Also has the winter pack with the heated washer bottle and the heated wing mirrors oh and reverse sensors

Here's some initial pictures just as i saw it before test driving it/having it on the drive

First thing i did was put my private plate on (my parents have had it since i was 8 )

As mentioned my Dad loves VW's and shortly before he got a Mk6 Rag top he had the same car as me!

Next was to move the old Mk4 number plate LED's to the new car. Simple job nothing much to shout about

Then got myself a Pipercross panel filter, again nothing much to shout about

Me and my Friend sprayed the engine cover and intake just to spruce it up and it was very dull and dirty

Spent £90 on some Genuine new old stock R-Line fog light grills (Haven't seen them on any other golf apart from Timepillow's on here as i told him about them!)

The front end stopped like that for a while (as you can see i got myself a chrome trimmed bottom grill)

Little interior update, stole my dad's RCD 510 before it went in for swaps and also got myself an Eject button the remove one of the blanks (Got an oil slick one now too)

(it is a perfect colour match)

Then bought myself a rep ED30 rear end. Only a rep because i dont want the exhaust cut outs

Prefect fit and perfect colour match

As i mentioned i got myself a chrome bottom grill... Thats because i wanted to go for a smooth Jetta US front end look...
So i waited 6 months for this! But it was worth it

Set about fitting it along with some number plate brackets i quickly made at work one lunch time so i dont have to use cable ties

Also had a short number plate made up so it fits in the gap

Then i went to see a friend who put the indicator DRL's on for me!

Thats it for my photobucket album!
Since that picture last year i've got some RH ZW3 wheels i'm going to split and rebuild.
I've had to remapped to approx 180bhp
Got some UK legal pressed plates and number plate holders

So i've done a few little things but now im 21 with 3yNCB i've got a specialist insurance policy that's allowing me to do lots more to the car!
I have FK street coilovers sat in my bedroom waiting to go on and last weekend i removed he EGR valve and pipe and installed a Darkside Developments delete kit with boost gauge takeoff. Then i installed a Newsouth boost gauge and steering wheel mount... It peaks at 27psi and holds 22 on boost (that good?)

Plans are currently to get Coils on, rebuild the wheels (10j rears and 9j fronts MAAAAAADDDD), R32 front end swap, R32 lights back and front and a custom discreet turboback system

I shall get some more pictures taken today/tomorrow of the new mods and put them on here for you all to see.
Until them feedback is appreciated and i hope to have more updates in the future!

Tom

Okay folks, here are some more pictures as he stands today.
Like i said there's not a shed load of mods yet but i'm slowly chipping away at my list

The LED number plate lights

Button blank buttons so far

EGR valve and pipe finally out!

Replaced with a Darkside delete kit

Vacuum pipe that goes all the way to the other side of the engine bay, behind the battery, through the firewall and across my dash to the gauge!

Gauge in

At night

Obligatory instagram picture

And to finish it off for now, my favorite picture of my car so far

More updates to come soon since the love has come flooding back!
Feedback is always appreciated

Tom
