Far too much power. They only weigh 900Kg!!

I'd put in a 2.0 16V from the Mk3. That would still be very quick. The best balanced mk1's seem to have around 160-170 bhp, which is loads for such a light car.

Fun Golf: 2016 mk7 R DSG 3 door. Work Golf: 2015 mk7 1.4 TSI GT ACT 5 door.
Gone but not forgotten : mk2 Golf GTI 16v, mk4 Golf V6 4Motion, mk5 GTI Storm Developments Stage 1, mk5 GTI Revo Stage 1, BMW 330ci, Skoda Octavia VRS Revo Stage 2, BMW Z4 Sdrive35i.

A mk1 can handle a k03 20vt fine and can muller a lot of cars below 80 (with the suspension and brakes done of course) and you get sheds more punch than a 16v - they are an absolute hoot. I agree a k04 would be a bit too much for the agricultural chassis. Maybe I'm getting old but I dont miss my old one and prefer a modded ed30  :surprised:  Rosy specs off, they feel very old to drive as standard.
