PROBLEM..Changing mk5 boot handle to mk6
« on: June 18, 2012, 06:08:42 pm »
I have changed the handle over and all connections are in place however the lock mechanism does'nt work
Have I missed something out really simple here?
I can re-attach the old badge from the inside of the car as I hadnt put the rear boot trim back on yet to open and close but the mk6 badge doesnt unlock
any ideas?

Do you mean that when you lift the handle nothing happens, or that it won't lock? Does it make any noise when you lift it up, and have you double checked that the metal connectors touch when you lift the handle?

The boot doesn't open when I lift it up. The handle clicks but nothing electrical like when I open it but the old handle. Will take it off and check the metal connectors tomorrow if that would be it. Is there anyway it could be faulty as I did buy it second hand?

That is possible, however I have bought and sold a number of mk5 and mk6 ones and never had one not work. I don't have enough technical knowledge but I'm sure you could check the power going to it with a multimeter?
