Detail My Ride - Mr Danza's BMW 135i Coupe
« on: November 29, 2012, 12:54:44 pm »
Hi Guys!

We've had a busy few weeks spending some time on our studio, as well as squeezing in a few jobs in between, so running a little behind on write ups etc!

A little while ago, Mike asked us to treat his stunning BMW 135i M-Sport Coupe to a light machine polish to enhgance the overall 'look' of the car wihtout going over the top and layering 'Unicorn Tears' (his words) all over his pride and joy!

The aim of the detail, was just to thoroughly wash/decontaminate the paintwork as well as refine the finish to a high gloss, so nothing too major in terms of correction required.

The car was treated to a light enhancement including:

- Wheels cleaned using AS Smart Wheels, lambswool wheel woollies
- Tyres/arches cleaned using AS G101, vikan brushes
- Pre-wash via foam lance, to remove loose debris/dirt, high pressure rinse
- Bodywork, door shuts etc washed using Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo, 2BM and lambswool mitts
- Bodywork/wheels decontaminated using Iron X/Tardis, followed by clay with Auto Finesse grey
- Single stage correction process, 3M Yellow at around 1500rpm
- Paintwork sealed using Auto Finesse Tough Coat
- Wheels sealed with Auto Finesse Mint Rims
- Tyres, plastics and rubbers dressed, glass cleaned, exhaust/chrome polished
- Light interior detail, include mats/carpets clean, fabrics, plastics etc, glass cleaned.

Unfortunately we had to squeeze this in on a busy week, so only have some after shots and some iPhone 50/50 shots, but we just had to share them as the car looked so good!

Couple of 50/50's:

LOL. You'll be pleased to hear I've invested in an old cast iron mop bucket to swill my Y fronts in. That's nearly the two bucket method??

I probably fit into a large proportion of car enthusiasts, I like a nice car, but I don't have the time and patience to be a detailing geek. Nathan took the average person's car and elevated it to something stunning. Something I as an owner could be proud of and want to keep beautiful. I know he does proper show car levels of work, but I didn't once feel like he was talking down to me as a layman who "only" wanted x-level of work. What he did was way above my expectations, I can't imagine how good his showcar stuff is!

I think detailers alienate people, all this talk of 62 hours works and smearing with unicorn tears, I told Nathan what I wanted and he listened. This is very important HE LISTENED. He didn't try to ram anything down my throat, we discussed and he advised accordingly.

If you want your car to look nice, be that for personal pride, to win prizes or to help you sell it. See Nath. There's a lot of bullsh*tters in this field, and thankfully he isn't one of them
