Changing oil and diesel filter

Hi stupid question here lol

Is there a thread on how to change both oil and diesel filters and Pollum filter

I can do petrol cars ie my corsa starlet etc but never done a diesel before
Any help would be ace

Wanting to save on money on mechanic rates as its just a diesel not my track car :) going to put it to vw next year for timing belt and water pump :) going to do all pads n discs too and fk suspension as its easy to do :)

Was going to atemp to do glow plugs but not sure about them as never done them before just spark plugs lol how hard are they to do? And where are they located ?   

Am new to the diesel so clueless bout them but I can fix cars done my previous normal cars but not my track car as it was a turbo starlet

Changing the oil you will need to jack one side up, remove about 20screws & bolts from undertray, remove drain plug. Filter needs 32mm socket. Hardest part is getting that undertray back on.
I only replace the glow plugs when they fail, vw ones never seem to.

One of my glow plugs came up on VCDS as not operating properly. So i chose to change them, This has not caused any problems.

Cheers so its just the plastic cap screw off and replace cartilage ? As used to metal screw filters lol does the drain plug not come out the back or is proper covered with under tray :( my vcds says all 4 are needing replaced and a gd service as due in 2k miles as my mate has vcds now :)

So I do not need to remove rocker cover and timing belt cover?

Cheers yeah used to fixing my own cars u see trying to save the penny's :)

Mine say circuit on all 4 mate so assume all 4 need replaced :( not deer tho

So is my car  :happy2: The photo is very similar and shows where the glor plugs are located, Just pull off the rubber that goes on the end of the plug and there exposed like the photo  :smiley:

Yeah just nipped out mate yeah mine is same cheers for the help :) greatly appreciated :-)

So it's just like leads pull of replace plugs back on and done :)

Oil filter seems easy to change too and diesel filter? Do u know about it is it just 5 or 6 nuts out and replace filter inside or do I need to bleed system at all?

Is Pollum filter under dash ?

As u can see never worked on a diesel always had petrols lol

Not a problem! Happy i can offer some help. Ive not changed my oil and diesel filter, but the pollen filter was painful to change  :grin:

If you lie upsidedown in the passanger footwell and look up behind the glove box, its up there. Takes a little while to change but worth it, and you would be suprised how filthy they get!  :smiley:

Yeah new oil and diesel filters came with new rubbers etc :)

Pollum filter looks a hard one but I will cope lol

Cheers yeah does the rubber ends of glow plugs come off easy? I see u removed the wiring around it so think will just do the same :)

That photograph was pulled from the internet, as I would have created exactly the same photo it seemed pointless to spend the time to make the same thing..

Anyway. There is no need to remove anythingmore than just the glow plug ends. The rubber bits are easy to remove and refit, they just 'pop' on and off.

The glow plugs can be a little stiff to get out, but this could be down to temperature, so if its cold it might be worth warming up the engine a little.

The pollen filter is fairly easy its just the time spend upside down!  :grin: :grin:

Yeah will get everything done just not the weather proper freezing :( -5.5 this morning so need to book a ramp n do it in a warmish garage lol

Did the Pollum filter :) wow bird feathers some amount of dust and the filter was black alright lol must if been the second filter as one got done in a vw service few years ago says in my service book :) so was due a service anyways but doing a big one :)
