Dashboard Replacement
« on: December 18, 2012, 10:42:45 am »
Passengers air bag has gone off, found a replacement bag but obviously the dashboard needs replacing, is this really a hard, hard, hard task? Anyone know if them dash repair kits are any good?

Hopefully back on the MK5 GTi scene soon!

Theres some that is just a huge vinyl sticker isn't there? Spotted one where you make a "mild" of the pattern and then press this into the gel that's filling the holes, looked OK on YouTube, how hard is a full dash removal and replacement? How much would someone charge if I source the dash?

a full dash out job is a big job as a lot of other parts need to be removed

I would say about 4-5 hours to do it

If your on about repairing where the airbag has done the damage originally i wouldnt bother as at the end of the day its a health and safety issue and if anything did ever happen and the bag couldnt explode and do its job then people could be injured.
I would look on e-bay or any specialist vw breakers etc ,you may have even to have found a deal with the bags etc
