Squeaking brakes on my mk 5 GTI
« on: February 02, 2013, 04:39:38 pm »
Hi can anyone help , I have a 2005 Golf gti and just recently had the brakes changed and after about a month they started squeaking when slowing down from around 30 mph and also accelerating up to and past 30 , I had the whole lot changed again under warranty and again after a month or so they started squeaking again , I had my garage take them off and clean all the brakes , but this did not stop it .Does anyone know y this occurs ??

Do they need replacing?  Check the inside.  If you've got plenty of meat on them...
...Take the pads out and slap some copper grease on the BACK of them and re-fit.
If that doesn't solve it, perhaps you've got the start of sticking piston in the caliper, or the caliper pins could do with cleaning / regreasing.

We're they pagid pads?

Are the pagid pads known for squealing?
I recently fitted new pagid discs all around and pads on the rear. I getting squealing on the rear that I never got before.
Still have Bosch pads up front, which can be quite noisy with the pagid discs when pressing lightly on them.

I fitted Pagid cheap pads on the rear recently from EuroCP; plenty of copper grease and not had a peep out of them...  :happy2:

+1 for the copper grease, i've yet to have squealing pads that have not been resolved this way.
