Chrome switches, footrest and mats
« on: June 29, 2013, 11:44:36 am »
Hey guys. Had my gti for nearly 2 months now and loving every minute of it!

Thinking about a few little touches to make the inside a little more special.
Firstly I would like to change the window switches and light switch to the 'chrome versions as seen here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-OEM-CHROME-SWITCH-CONTROL-5-Pcs-Set-for-VW-PASSAT-CC-B6-GOLF-JETTA-MK5-/121131194136?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c33fb5718
Now, my car is a three door and I have only been able to find these switches for 5 door models as they seem to be from the passat. Wondered if anybody knew if these were fitted to any 3 door cars? Maybe the scirocco or mk6gti and if they would fit?

I would also like a footrest but only if I can find one that matches the pedals. Is there anything out there that will do the job other than the plate ali ones in the group buy?

Last question for now, mats. What do the standard (the gti had mats as standard right?) ones look like, and which cheaper alternatives people have and would recommend. They must have holes for the oem clims.

Hope you can all help!

Cheers, Pete

3 PC chrome pack are rare, I bought mine from eBay China for around £35 delivered.  Then bought the light switch and fuel release switch seperately.

Price has gone up though.

You can get the all the Chrome switches (and headlight switch) for a 3d from Boldsport.com. I've used them for a couple of years with no problems at all. There is a promo code for 15% off at the mo, EXT15. Don't forget the petrol cap switch too.

Here's a link for you........

~~ Clicky here ~~

Best footrest (dead pedal) IMHO is the OSIR one but it does cost £50-£60 IIRC. I have one and it looks great although massively overpriced.

Looks like this......

Wonderfully quick replies guys! (I done a rhyme!)

That footrest is lovely, but very expensive. This is the one I liked the look of below, It looks like an edition 35, but the OSIR may have changed my mind as to which I want.

MC17, I love that last picture, showing all three things I asked about! Are those the standard mats? My car is red and the red trim appeals to me greatly.

I think the switches are a little bit expensive for me to want to change them all for now, is that eBay link for genuine parts or copies?

One other thing, there are some wires visible underneath my accelerator pedal, they look like they're meant to be there is that right?

^^^^ my cars an ED30 so those mats are standard, you can probably get red some lookalike non OEM trimmed mats from eBay or the interweb. OEM ED30 mats are about £180 a set and standard GTI mats are around £70-£90 I believe.

The switches on eBay are genuine and sholud be for that price, might be from the Asian market but still OEM. They won't cost that much from the VW Dealers though, just a thought.

Cheers mate, i'll get in touch with my local dealer and see what they say.

I got a set of genuine mats for my fabia vrs for about £74 but within half a winter they were scrappy as hell so I dont think I'd spend that kind of money again. That said, I am taking much greater care of the golf :)
