My first mk5.....in fact my first vw :)
« on: June 24, 2015, 12:53:24 am »
Hey guys fairly new to this site...
This is my mkv
First mkv I have owned and first vw I have ever owned aswell
So far so good.
I have only gave her a wax so far but when I have time she will get the 3stages 3m and should come up just nice.
Hopefully a good starting point for some sensible modification

Thanks Andy...
And samx
Spec so far that I know about.
I only bought this car a week passed this fri and to be fair I had been looking for one for a long time.
Originally was going for a 5 door so I could get my boys in easy enough.
However managed to talk the wife around to a 3 door :)
As for spec the car only came with full service history and the mot slip
No receipts for anything an as u guys can see only upgrades are bbs ch wheels think there reps
However still nice.
And r32 discs pads and callapers.
It's fairs basic I think when it comes to standard spec
Doesn't have any the extras like sat nav or heated seats or leather.
But if am being honest kinda glad as its a great clean starting place.
If am being honest with u guys it goes really well I can't help but think it's running a bit more than standard.
A cant help think why has some one went to the trouble putting on r32 brakes
Any ways first chance I get am going to get it on the rollers an am sure that might shed a bit light an all that.
As for the future to start with she is booked in to vw in Stirling to see if I can qualify for front wing getting done as they are. Dry slightly starting to bubble.
Then one of the wheels have a very small flat spot so going to get another wheel.
Then hopefully get a cold air induction kit and a good sat nav an stuff for her.
And am sure this will be the start of it
Any one recommend a good cold air inductions kit for her?????

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking Golf there and good to see yet another VW owner. Wouldn't go anywhere else personally myself. Great colour you've got too.
MK6 2.0 GT Tornado Red.

Welcome mate, nice looking car.

Those brakes are off a Porsche originally, not sure which one exactly but if you take the wheel off there will be a part number stamped on it somewhere and you can find out from that. They're probably off a 996 carerra

Hey guys
Thanks very much for the warm welcome
And av had the golf now 2 weeks tomorrow an to be honest with u guys I really do like it.
I owned a Astra gsi a few years back and it got rolling roaded at 208bhp
The golf is Suppose  to be 197bhp but feels a lot faster.
I don't have any history about the car apart from it has full service history and the  things u can see wheels and breaks.
But I can't help but think why put they big breaks on it an it never had any mods
I think perhaps at some point in it's life it has had maybe some mods and before prevoius owners sold car removed all parts.
But perhaps it has had a remap an that's still on the car...
As it feels a lot quicker than 197bhp
Am trying to do some digging as I noticed the guy who owned it previous on the log book.
Is the same guy who moted the car
So am going to phone the mot centre and ask to speak to him see if he can fill me in with some information on the car.
An will let u guys know
Any ways hopefully first steps for me is cold air induction kit
Wind deflectors for doors
And maybe a nice sat nav or screen for her
Any u guys would recommend ?????
Also just a quick question for any u guys
If the car has had mods at some point in its life and has been maped
Is it possible mods have been removed and sold sep.
And the map still on the car making it just that bit quicker than standard
Or am I just talking rubbish here and this isn't possible ????

Hi, seems very likely this car has been mapped. Unless the previous owner was a show off like me, who just wanted bad ass brakes.

And also, could possibly have been modded previously, most guys tend to put the car back to stock and sell parts seperate to get their money back.

Should you be looking for a sat nav, i might have the kenwood dnx520vbt for sale soon. Its double din, fits the mk5 golf perfectly, got bluetooth, nav, dvd player, tv (needs tuner), radio, microphone etc.

Very nice, always fancied a red 1 but could not find a decent 1 when I was looking, good luck with it!

Hi mk05glf
What kinda money is in this mate???
And how difficult is it to fit???
Might have to go on the waiting list because the air bag light had just come on
The morning I am away on holiday so will have to have a look at this.
Hopefully won't be a major fix right enough
And thanks dubdanr32
