Mine as it is (with no map as far as i know) will start spinning up its 18" Falken tyres on boost in 2nd gear in the dry quite easily, 3rd gear if its even slightly on a bend. Good way to compare!? Lol.

It does have 3" downpipe, de-cat, milltek system, Neuspeed CAI and forge diverter valve, but they should make little difference!?

Think im just scared i go for remap and get told it still has its map (and that would explain its quickness), im wanting another 70bhp! Haha!

Yes - am continually surprised by mine - feels more than the 230hp that the ED30 is supposed to make. My old mkiv was over 250bhp plus (with a Ko4 conversion), but the delivery in the mk5 is smoother and pick-up feels better through the rev range.

On mine, I am sure the DSG helps with the feeling of speed - I don't think it is mapped, but one of the techs at APS did say to me 'your car 's a bit quick isn't - is it mapped?'. Bit of a surprise as Ed had a Sportec turbo conversion on his ED30, so am sure they know the cars very well.

I am sure it isn't, as the previous owner doesn't seem to have be an enthusiast in any way. I did only just have an edge on a mk5 R32 once, - so that seems to say it is standard. Out of interest I do want to get it on a RR, and it will be mapped at some point after the brakes and handling has been tightened up...

I reckon a standard K03 would have a hard time against one; a 320bhp K04, nope.

The 182 is around 165bhp per tonne, a standard Mk5 GTI is 150.

PWR to Weight, BHP Per tonne:
Standard 182: 165
Standard Mk5 GTI: 150
S1 240 bhp GTI or Ed.30 standard: 185
S2 260 bhp GTI: 200

290bhp Ed.30: 221
320bhp Ed.30: 244

Perhaps it was stripped out.

You also have to remember the sheer turbo torque that we have too, its the torque that makes you accelerate quickly! :driver:

The speed and smooth delivery just never gets old / boring.....I have only had mine a week though!

Sometimes you dont realise how fast you are actually going because its so smooth.

Will be getting a stage 1 at some point but I cant imagine how much 'faster' it would feel with it.  Will no doubt bring a mahooosive grin to my face!

Got mine back last night with a new DV and its now running full boost at stage 1 Revo...the difference over standard is massive, combined with the DSG map it piles on speed very quickly and like to spin up in 2nd gear in the dry when coming on boost, before it wouldnt even spin in the wet

Stupidly i never ran my gti standard for long enough to appreciate how much more impressive it is now,i often wish that i had kept it longer through the stages of tune iv now had the awesome k04 conversion done and at stage three with that next step is a golf r for four wheel drive and it will all start again lmao

I was massively surprised how quick these are! Had a BMW 530i, then a Hawkeye WRX before that and the Golf smashes the BM and even feels marginally quicker than the WRX.

I normally change my cars every 6 months or so but I can see us keeping the Golf for considerably longer! Awesome car!

^^^ same here, ive had all sorts of performance cars over the years and usually change every 6 months myself but im really taken by the GTI, it ticks all the boxes, they do need a stage 1 map though, a little bit slow in standard form
