Intake Flap Motor Replacement, anybody done it themselves?
« on: July 26, 2013, 11:54:21 pm »
When scanning with vagcom it came up with the error's like the one's shown here:-

012599 -   intake manifold runner control: basic setting not completed
P3137 - 001 - upper limit exceeded - intermittent
Freeze frame:
Fault status: 00100001
Fault priority: 0
Fault frequency: 1

Right i've done a basic setting with vagcom and it clear's it only for it to appear again a few day's later which lead's me to think that the Exhaust intake flap motor need's changing.Has anyone on here changed it themselve's?Symptom's on my car is lack of power or boost and my car's upto date with the lastest pcv/dv valve.  :surprised:

Hey Sanj

Would that be the motor, that's attached to the right hand side of the intake manifold motor, just below it,...

it is a real bitch to get at, but can be done, just remove as much pipe work out of your way, to give you more room to access it, 4 bolts hold it in place, not that hard when you have done a few...

A few plugs in and around there need to be removed, plus if you car in a ko4, the dv and pipe work.... everything that can be moved to make it easier to get it.

Part number? Intake Flap Control Motor 06F 133 482

if this is correct
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,67716.msg739314.html#msg739314

It is a bit fiddly, but can be done with some patience matey...

Hope that helps and is the correct thing i'm talking about lol...

this went on me a short time after I replace m=y throttlebody, it was harder to do, if you have replaced a throttlebody!

goodluck...
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

if not its in the intake mani runner,   let me know how you get on!

I have seen these problems pop up more often than enough now...

hope you get to the bottom of it...

you could always remover the flaps and go for the APR ones

something on my to do list...

Many thnak's for the reply mate, yes it' the motor that's shown in the other post and my car had indeed got a KO4 being an Edition30,just need to confirm 100% that the part number is correct as some dont have the 'E' frefix at the end and you have to get the one that has the exact part number as the one that is already fitted, what were the problem's you had that led you to change it?

Its looking like the intake mani flap fault is latest things that's cropping up in the line of Tfsi issues.

Sometimes when the throttle body dies, it can send a voltage spike back to the ecu, which then causes the intake mani fault.  A new ecu or repair is required to clear the fault. Or do a runner delete and get the fault mapped out.

So would you say it would be prudent to change the intake flap motor and throttle body if you start getting intake manifold runner control errors?

I think VrsAlex quoted that if the throttlebody dies then it could take out the intake flap motor and cause the errors that ive been having,I think ill be ok with just changing the motor its self.

Does anybody know the correct part number for an Edition30 as a member has one for sale but im a little confused as someone has stated it has to be changed for exactly the same one,and not a revised part.

Not sure about that as what would VW service department do with your car if they only stock/carry the latest version part?

VrsAlex should be able to tell you definitely.

Revised part is a revised part. Better than the old one and will work fine as a replacement.

A big thank's to Flyboy1976 for advising me on what to check and it doe's indeed seem that the intake flap motor is on it's way out as it seem's it need's calibtaring every other week so it must be getting close to dying altogether! Is there anyone in the West Yorkshire area that could fit this for me(will pay) as it look's like a bitch to get at,I have vagcom to calibrate it afterward's!
