Alloys with VW logo but - "Not Original Equipment" on them???

Help - don't know what this means...

Are they a VW aftermarket or a replica?  Just wanted to know before I buy.

Sorry - no photos asked seller what it said on the back of the rims.  He didn't really know but said it sounds like they are replicas.

Strange to have the VW logo tho.

Anyone got any pics of original logo/ text?

Asked the guy what it said on the back of the rim.

Is there any VAG/VW logo or part number.  Over the phone he said yes there is a VW logo and some numbers, but it also says "not original equipment"

I didn't want replica wheels, so the conversation kinda died.  Said I would think about it etc.

Just out of curiosity I wondered what Replica wheels did say, couldn't imagine they actually said "I am a copy" and never expected a VW logo on them either...

I would probably say they are original? I carnt see replicas saying not original equipment on them????

Do the monza II's say the above on them cos I presume the monza II was not original equipment has they where an option? just a thought.

100% Replica.  All are supposed to have this on them so they cannot be sold as OE and claims be made on manufacturers.  The few times where we have sold replica's that have always come in with VW caps....

Some of the naughty reps are 100% mould copies and will ahve all the markings etc.  the only way to tell them appart is the weight!!!!

Yeah, if they say not original equipment then they are deffo replicas and the company are covering their arse legally. I would hazard a guess that a company that goes to the trouble of that is more likely to produce a better quality of wheel than cheap far eastern knock offs that would ape the OEM wheel without caring a jot about copyrights etc.
Some replicas are European made and of reasonable quality

Often the giveaway on Monza reps are the size of the centre caps, they are often smaller than the VW original as the wheels are supplied in 5x100mm PCD as well as 5X112 fitments (thus requiring a smaller centre cap) where as the VW OEM ones are always 5x112mm so can use a bigger cap. Polo GTI alloys wheel (16'' Monzas) are 5x100 PCD and have a smaller 56mm centre cap.

the outer lip is slightly larger and the bolt holes are too small for the Vw bolt caps
