Speaker Upgrade
« on: April 10, 2014, 03:59:05 pm »
Anyone on here recommend a speaker upgrade? Don't want to break the bank but the standard speakers are just not doing it for me any more!

Don't really want to have to source from all over the place.

Thanks for your time

Chris  :happy2:

Do a search on this and you'll find loads of info.

Basic rule of thumb is 2 way components are good improvement, but a 3 way set are preferred.

Hertz and focal make 3 way sets for around 200-300 while JL do a set for around 5-600.

I have the JL C5 3 way comps and they sound fab with an amp.

Hope this helps.

Heard good things about the Gladen OneLine 200 set up. It replaces the woofer in the door with an 8" one (up from 6.5").

You could use that in an active setup with some 4" comps.

I think the standard sizes are 6.5, 4 and .75 inch for the bass/mid/tweeter units. As mentioned above the woofer space is massive.

In installed those size replacements with no major issues. The only area of concern is the mids, the depth isn't very much so some beefier units are too deep for the door card to fit back properly. Mine are 41mm and fit but again a search will clarify the max.
