help please
« on: August 22, 2014, 05:29:47 pm »
wondering if anyone could point me in some direction of where to go next.

when my engines cold and im gently driving every things fine until i go from 4th to 5th
when i start to accelerate in 5th eg joining a slip road, when i get to 2k revs the car seems to hesitate and the whole car shakes until i get over 2.5k then it stops but then it does it again when i change gears to 6th and get to 2k revs again.
if i boot it it doesnt do it at all.
once it reaches 90c it doesnt do it in any gear or at any speed/revs.
ive had it on vcds and no fault codes at all although i am getting a slight misfire on cylinder1 but again no cel.
this has been going on for months and i cant get to the bottom of it, ive serviced it including fuel filter, plugs and coil packs and its made no difference.
i was going to change the injector in cylinder 1 but if the injector was faulty wouldnt it do it all the time regardless of speed and temp? and wouldnt it have thrown a cel if it was misfiring bad enough to shake the whole car? also when warmed up the misfire stops
is there anything to look at? am i missing something?
any help would be great

also coincidently this started to happen soon after i changed the cam follower could that have anything to do with?

Get the ECU fault codes read using VCDS to see what, if any, systems are reporting problems. This should always be your first action as saves changing working items.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Well done for staying at it and getting the result you needed for your efforts :happy2:

If you have the time do a "How To" to help others as I've not seen one!

i followed this guide http://www.scribd.com/doc/16176692/STaSIS-K04-Install
its really easy to follow. the hardest part by far is removing the m10 triple square support bolt its a right pita! theres no room or clear path to get to it, i had to by 2 m10 bits as i dropped one in the engine and couldnt find it  :ashamed:
also getting it back in was just as bad because u cant see if the support bracket is lined up or not so my advise is try to not move its position at all when u remove the manifold also getting the dip stick holder back in was fun too!

but its not as hard to do as i thought, just give your self plenty of time  :happy2:

This is one of those items which should be added to the how to do thread by the Mods as it's becoming a FAQ !!!
