I'd say before buying an induction kit, just get an air filter (K&N or Pipercross) as at stage 1 there's little point in an induction kit. I've had good results from using the standard air box with a filter. This will then save a few quid which can go towards a full turbo back exhaust which sounds better and gives much better gains per pound spent.
It's very easy to fall into the "I NEED EVERYTHING!!!" trap when sitting on the web for a few hours, but a few days off the forums helps relax the temptation side of the mind.
I see your point, I've been really quiet at work this week and spend a lot of time on the forum and thinking I need everything NOW!!!
I had a pipercross panel filter on my old Bluefin'd GTI and that made a nice quiet noise at low revs, like u said may be an idea to go with one again, but I was just looking for a little more noise really - my Bluefin'd GTI felt really rapid with great low down grunt and was really impress so I'm sure if I can get to the 300hp mark with just a panel filter and custom map I'm sure I'll be over the moon......and if I feel the need over time save up and get a cat back for more noise and pretty tail pipes then the full system, if the clutch lasts that long!
This is going to a slippery slope!
