Mk5 gti performance
« on: February 11, 2015, 12:18:00 pm »
Wonder if anyone can help I have come from a 04 wrx and now have a gti 05 gti that feels very flat incomparison even though there is only 30hpbetween them

The golf is fast but just seems said IT is missing the boost as in you carnt feel the turbo kick in like ya could in the scooby is it like that in the gtis

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44709.0.html - This is everything you need to know to start with. Most likely your diverter valve is knackered hence the lack of turbo kick.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Could possibly be diverter valve

But the tfsi will have a more linear power delivery compared the subarus more raw old school awd delivery

Vw or tps mate or even ebay
Around £35 - £40 is about right
Sometimes dealers call it turbo cut off valve!

Been driving diesels for the last few years with my last car a remapped BMW E90 330d. So thought mine was down on power. Full service including fuel filter and Rev G diverter helped little bit.

As people have said its a linear power which takes getting used to compared to the diesels. I was so paraniod took my car down to Surrey rolling road where my standard car is making 213bhp so really cannot moan about it.  Get the scanned for error codes and a power run.
