LPFP Upgrade Options
« on: May 08, 2020, 05:15:34 pm »
Hello,

Was hoping for some pointers on LPFP upgrades on the standard pump in a ed30?

I'm having cold start issues and even after a service and direct replacement the car splutters when turning the key over.

Eventual plans is to go Stage2+ and although a LPFP isn't required, I would rather it be done (and uprated for piece of mind)

Cheers,

A LPFP upgrade isn't necessary. If you believe the LPFP is the issue, check out this vid because the oem LPFP is capable of providing target pressure but must be in good condition. There's no benefit to upgrading the LPFP except that the LPFP duty may be decreased a bit...not going to provide more power. Also, the TTRS is going to make fuel level gauge readings incorrect. It will not ever go to the full mark and it will run out of fuel when it says you have 5 or 10 miles to go. You can try bending the level sensor arm/float to try remedying this.

Have the test done to determine where your low pressure fuel is being lost or bleeding off and if a LPFP is needed...go with a new oem LPFP. The LPFP circuit is just 15 amps so any LPFP upgrade will only receive a 15 amp limit of amps. Also, the LPFP "control module/PWM" is going to control the fuel pump and will only make an upgrade work just enough so actual pressure matches the target pressure. Which is exactly what the oem LPFP can do. Bigger or "better" is not the fix. Finding the problem and replacing the oem LPFP if needed will suffice. [ Invalid YouTube link ]&feature=emb_logo
