DP's daily
« on: December 18, 2009, 11:36:07 am »
So Im not big on running a nice car through winter at all as I bought the Golf as a toy to enjoy and tbh I dont enjoy the car in winter weather; no traction, grit, muck, hassle etc. So I have been looking out for a cheap mk3 to run me through the winter  :xmassmiley:

Ever since school Ive always wanted a mk3 GTi, I can remember sitting in class drawing them with my mates

Ok so their not the most desirable Golf compared against the mk1's and 2's but are relatively cheap to get a gudden unlike the m1's and 2's. I came across a real gem for not a lot at all.

I found a mk3 GTi 8v 20th Anniversary in satin silver, with no tax or test, went up and had a look with a guy I know in the trade and we had a good look around it and everything was spot on, I gave the guy £900 and that was that. I put it straight through a test without laying a finger on it to which all it failed on was a nearside track rod end.

Got that sorted and put it through a re-test which it passed  :happy2:

Anyway here it is after a very good clean:

And today it looks like this

looks like a good one mate. I got my brother in law one a few months back an ani version 2.0 16v and its a nice thing but i told him to get the belts changed after i did a quick service on it and he said he would do but he left it and they snapped and took the engine with it  :rolleye: i bloody told him 5 or 6 times to do it so now its been redone and should be ready for him to run soon

for a minute there the thread title lead me waaaaaaaay off into the NSFW category!

as far as the mk3 is concerned and away from any "double" action, i think its great! ;)

Its totally standard apart from the head unit. The anni's benefit from VR6 breaks and front chin along with anniversary 16" BBS RX split rims

It also came with a private plate, so I will be moving that across to the ED30

Loks nice Dan  :happy2:

The black plastic arches gives it a nice 4x4 stance on the pics.

Are you taking the Eddie of the road full time for the winter, or going to be still running it on occasion's.  :happy2:

Looks like a very tidy MK3 Anni, I love the interior in those!

I'm amazed the Anni's are as cheap as the normal ones these days, but MK3s are too cheap as it is.  I actually really like them.

I was offered a pretty nice black 3dr 16V Colour Concept the other day for £1k, after todays weather I'm tempted to get ABF #3!  Don't worry Mat Ed30 I know all about ABF cambelt issues, my last Ibiza GTI had a £2500 head rebuild from the local dealer 60 miles before I bought it for £900!

Edit - car sold yesterday, d'oh!
