What height are you running on coilovers
« on: December 18, 2009, 08:22:51 pm »
I have been speaking to vw racing today, and found them very helpfull. Ive been persuaded to ditch the springs and go for coilovers for road/some trackdays. I do a fair bit of mountain biking so i do end up on some sh1tty roads sometimes, so i was only thinking of lowering 20mm, which will probably settle in to 25mm once the have been run in. I will be running oem monza 2s and complementing the coilovers with engine mounts, ARB bushes and WALK Kit.

Ive not decided wheather to  make the trip to MKs for fitting yet as i live in scotland.

Basically i was wondering what height all you guys were running, and wondering if you had any issues with rubbing or speed bumps at your particular height

All opinions would be gratefully appreciated  :popcornsoda:

I am running on some AP coilovers that where supplied and fitted by VWR, I believe the drop is set to about 50mm on mine and I get no rubbing on the OEM pescara wheels.  :santa:

My drive is on a slight slope so on the flat it sits a little lower, I get the odd scrape on the plastic undertray when going over very big speed bumps.

speed bumps are fine but some do catch the undertrays that go down both sides of the floor as they have a lip that points down and they dont always catch   and yes mines on kw v3 set up on the scales at vwr and they have been perfect in every way and are awesome on the track too  :driver:   its on the road when u know how compliant they are as they ride so nice and just iron all the bumps out but when u want to push had the car stays well planted and level and the body roll is all taken care of.
The ride height is about the same as Steves i would say and it perfect if you ask me as i always have plenty of crap in the car like a pram and my kid plus other stuff and they are great   enjoy them mate

I.m running slightly higher than Steve with the same Coilovers but with non standard wheels with a 44 offset. I do get the occasional rubbing going over speedbumps, but none at all whilst running the Huffs!  :happy2:

My drop, well what can i say, the flippin floor is in the way now. :rolleye: :rolleye: :rolleye:

On a serious note you'll be fine with a 30mm drop on coilovers though.  :happy2:
