How often to replace parts in service
« on: September 02, 2015, 02:09:47 pm »
Hi

I have a 1.9 tdi and I just completed the service myself where i replaced:

oil, glow plugs, air/oil/fuel and pollen filters.

Next year i want to service the car again and will most likely do less than 12 thousand miles

Should I just do an oil and air filter service, or do I need to do the fuel filter and glow plugs again?

Every 10k I replace the fuel filter in addition to oil and air filter. I know the fuel filter isn't a requirement every 10k but its a car I intend on keeping so why not spend a little extra for that piece of mind.

If you buy decent filters I see absolutely no need to do anything other than an oil and oil filter change, along with a check if the usual fluid levels/brakes/bushes/lights etc....

I used to change lots every year when I first started driving but realised that I was just wasting money, as you may get an engine to last forever, but realistically once a car gets old its generally the bodywork which gets bad.
