Cable ties is old fix You need vcds for proper diagnostics before attempting this sort of job
If you get stuck I'm only too willing to help......iirc paper mache is the new fix

To be honest there is no point fixing it on the cheap.
needs to be stripped, cleaned, ported & polished.
