iPod/iPhone with Kenwood head unit
« on: September 26, 2015, 10:51:11 pm »
Hey guys. I have a 2006 gti which came standard with the rcd300 headunit, amp under the passenger seat and nowhere to plug in USB or aux. About a year ago I got hold of a Kenwood DNX520 VBT and since then have been coping with 2 wires dangling all over my gear selector and handbrake. One to charge my iPhone and one for aux.

My question is, what exactly is needed for me to integrate it a little more nicely? I've seen those nice OEM USB and aux sockets and would like to use them if possible.  It's a while since I fitted it so I don't remember if there is room on the back for anything else to plug in. Do I need MDI (not 100% what this is) or just an iPod wire harness?

I'm lost here, I've had a search around and most of the information I've found relates to rns/rcd units, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thankyou!
