I found the Mk5 xenons on mine quite dull with OEM bulbs. Swapped out for some new 6000K morimoto bulbs, and much brighter and crisper now!
The clear lens mod mentioned above makes a difference too, not had it done on the golf, but on the other car. This pitch black road used to make me flip high beams on...
I'm one for enhancing the OEM xenons rather than swapping them, but I can understand wating something different.
