The old scooby like yours were the best,I work at the dealer ship and work on them.
Yep loved that car. I used to drive it hard all the time and it never missed a beat. Was my daily car to and from work places as i work as a field engineer.
I almost wanted to chain myself to the car and stop the person buying it off me i liked it that much. If the option to live in a cave came up i would of done that as long as it had a parking space for the scoob...;)
I remember getting it off a mate of a mate who didn't know sh*t about cars apart from what colour they were and how good his new armani top would look in the mirror. I took it off him and rolled it and it peaked at 191bhp and some stupidly low torque figure, the guys i took it too were great (Interpro here in sunny bristol), £190 later i was out running a car with 247bhp and 240lb/ft torque after apparently just a good service and sorting of some actuator issue.
Was running about a bar on manual controller and i used a manual plug in EPROM to upload ECU Maps, rather than the digital ones via programmers like today. Finally finished with 300bhp after fitting new IC and custom RR re-mapping via modified ECU EPROM we fitted.
I'm looking forward to getting the GTi to a similar level, not the 300, just the 250, along with a sorted stereo system, which, tbh, is more important to me than more than 250bhp in a FWD car...;)
I used to have a few mates working for Tileys in Bristol, which was a subaru garage, not sure if they are still around.
Ah I had a 93 WRX STi that looked just like that!. Man, that was one of the best cars I ever owned. I nearly killed my ex girlfriend in it though and it was my last performance car because of it (well until I bought the GTI recently).
I only had 1 near scrape coming through some lanes, when meeting a tracktor around a narrow corner travelling at about 80mph!
