Decker : 08 Grey GTI
« on: October 31, 2015, 02:52:50 pm »
Hi all , it's been about three months since I bought the Gti and the plan of keeping it fairly standard went out the window about two days after I bought it !!

The list is long and still growing , much to the dismay of my bank account.

'BSC Powervalve' Full turbo back Sport exhaust system with 200 cell sport cat
'Loba' High pressure fuel pump
'Airtech' Front mount intercooler
Revision G diverter valve (removed the 'Forge' vent to atmosphere valve)
'Neuspeed' Turbo intercooler pipe
'Ram Air' oversized induction kit
'VW' pcv valve
'ECS Tuning' billet alloy oil filter housing
'Millers' NANODRIVE 5w-40 engine oil
Open fog light grills
Black expansion & washer bottle caps
Pressed plates

To make the most of this lot i'm booked into 'R-Tech' on Wednesday for a mapping session ( getting the DSG box mapped at the same time)

I tend to like my cars to look as standard as possible but just had to have a set of 'ATS Cups' in 18'' , very retro , but I love the understated look.

All I need to do now is start getting my post count up so I can start selling all the bits I have removed and accumulated.

Rather liking the ATS Cups on a mk5 GTI, very retro! Sounds like a good set of modifications on the girl so far, you should see some nice numbers after a day at R-Tech.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Be interested to see what r-tech manage. I've got the same mods, excluding the neuspeed pipe, I however have a revo intake and autotec hpfp internals, and the best revo and apr have managed gains wise on mine was 265 bhp and 288 ft lbs and 267 bhp and 298 ft lbs. I know both are generic maps and r tech is custom. Just wise r tech weren't so far away. I will be keeping an eye out for your results!

Fantastic results at 'R-TECH' today well worth the 350 mile round trip.
A big thanks to Niki and the guys for an outstanding and professional service that I would recommend to anyone.
The result was some pretty decent figures ,  283.9 hp @ 5051 rpm and 355.67 ft/lbs @ 3040 rpm.
I had the DSG box mapped at the same time which makes a world of difference.

It's the torque that I'm jealous of. Still putting down 300lb/ft at 5k. Must feel really strong.

Just for comparison, here's mine with an R-Tech map, just Stage 1, hardware totally stock:

Apologies for the crap pic.

Mine peaks at 300ft lbs and I'm stage 2+, that's why I'm jealous!

Get yourself booked in with R-Tech mate. Mine is 296lb/ft peak with bone stock hardware.

Although I'd guess you make that torque at higher revs = more power. I'm at 242bhp.

It's a bit embarrassing to be honest as those of you who are on an r-tech stage 1 will be producing more torque than me!! It's 267bhp at 5500 and 298 ft lbs at 2400. The only thing they could suggest was that my actuator was opening slightly just through exhaust pressure and they suggested manually adjusting it to close it, and that would probably have seen 5-10 more ponies and also boost the torque a bit. Everything else was logged fine for specified over actual etc

Yeah that's pretty low for 2+.

At risk of sounding like an R-Tech fanboy, I do think their maps are ahead of the pack. I've read plenty of accounts like yours where the hardware's in place but the maps just don't seem to do the car justice. And just as many accounts of 2+ R-Tech cars achieving much better results.

I'd really consider a trip to Hinckley!
