Wing Mirror Queries

Anyone know if the base of the mirror that is fixed to the car and the mirror but can be separated where they pivot?

In the puddle light mirrors, is there anything different within the base unit compared to a non puddle light unit? Apart from some wiring which I assume passes through it.
