Rebirth of a GTI (TIME FOR "RACECAR")

So this is as it says is a rebirth.
I had a crash in my car a week or so ago on the A1, because someone couldn't drive it forced the car in front of me to slam on, I was checking my left hand mirror and it happened very quickly but this is what was left!



That happened friday night
By Saturday evening I had it in the SS Autowerks unit and stripped the front end off. Now  I've examined it all, the front end is straight, it's just body panels and stuff and the intercooler, radiator and condenser are dead but this is where we are right now. I have sourced most of the parts, upgrading intercooler and radiator,
Only parts I need now are GTI headlights, intercooler fans and the AC condenser!
SHE WILL LIVE AGAIN! And be colder and faster and prettier...

Massively appreciated! No one was hurt which was a great bonus, my right knee has been a bit shady this week because I locked my leg when I stood on the brakes!l! But apart from that both me and the other guy are all good!

It'll be a long process but she'll be back on the road in no time! Most would have written it off but I adore my car and I'm now seeing it as an excuse to have it off the road and do some of the work I want to do to it but never really bothered! (Not how I was planning to go about it but hey-ho, sh*t happens!)

Absolutely, cheers mate, big plans now. Radiator and intercooler on the way from Mishimoto, got a Cobra seat and some harnesses in the pipeline, stepping up safety, going to finally build up the set of brembo f40 calipers I have lying around and get them up to scratch. The real work begins now!

How much do you want for it? I assume its the same for a TDI?

Possibly, let us know how much you want for it, main priority is get it all working and in shape but this is a possibility!

While you have so much space, dropping the front subframe out will be proper easy so may as well upgrade some components while you're there as it'll save hours of labour later on.

Question for you... Because you're repairing this yourself, does this mean your car isn't going to be listed as a Cat D/C write off (thus preserving value)?

Aye plan is to fit all the sh*t I need to fit to stop it floating around when I go bigger power. It's off the road for long enough for me to get my hands on those parts and get them fitted! Aye it does mean that more or less, the car is going full racecar at some point so most likely it won't be able to be sold with value retained anyway so I'm not too bothered by that!

Fair enough, I was thinking from insurance point of view you have to declare a write off when taking a policy out but if it's becoming a track toy then it's a moot point. I ran full poly bushes, anti roll bars and coilovers on my GTI and the setup was a monster on the twisty roads. Throw in some lightweight hubs, wishbones and some other little tweaks and you'll have a killer of a track car.

Oh, and on the subject of hubs, most people get the S3 alloy ones... But Passat ones are the same part numbers and cost lots less! If you need more info I'll pass on what I know (info not sourced by myself so I take no credit).

UPDATE
So this weekend I went on a massive parts run, got more or less everything ready and stripped more of the car apart. Which revealed I needed a few more parts sorting but nothing major.
Got my hands on a bonnet, passenger wing, aircon condenser, radiator support and slam bar, and some rather special stuff arrived for me which I'll go on to later. But this is the current state of the car having taken everything apart.



Looks a bit of a state but at least everything lines up and should be straight fit back once I have everything together!
