Hey all.

I have just booked my GTI in at R-TECH to replace my bluefin with a stage1 custom re-map.

The guy on the phone mentioned that it might not get on the rollers if it's lowered with an ED30 Splitter, which worries me as i have work booked in to fit the splitter and eibach pro kit springs later next month (i'm booked in for feb with r-tech).

Has anyone been on their rollers with a 30mm drop and ED30 Splitter? did you get on them ok?

I take it worst case scenario would be i have to remove the splitter.  Is that easy enough to do?

TIA.

With Eibach Pro-Kit springs you won't have -30 mm lowering, you'll have at best -10 mm compared with a GTI stock suspension which is lowered -20 mm from factory.

This is my GT Sport with Eibach Pro-Kit springs:

This is my Ed. 30 with H&R -30 mm springs (20 mm lower than my GT Sport):

Have you been on r-tech's rollers with both drops?

Eibach say 20mm rear and 30mm front!

I'd like to but I'm in Portugal, it's too far away.

Eibach says that compared with a normal suspension, not compared with the GTI suspension, like H&R do with their springs.

I'm sure you'll be fine with Eibach Pro-Kit but don't expect a noticeable drop from standard.

Ahh i see, thanks for the advise.

I might just stick with the standard springs then and save myself a few bob...:)

From my personal experience you'd still benefit from fitting Eibach Pro-Kits. They're so much better in ride comfort and have less body roll. But if you want better handling you should go for H&R springs or for Eibach Sportlines. I had Eibach Sportlines with stock dampers and I didn't like them. Fitted H&R springs and Koni Sports and now I really like how the car handles.

Have you tried other suspension setups? My GT Sport with Eibach Pro-Kit, Koni FSD, SALK and the same sway bars of the GTI handled better than my Ed. 30 with Eibach Sportline and OEM dampers. The GT Sport just had more body roll because Pro-Kits are softer than Sportlines. Now my Ed. 30 is much improved and has a better handling (with a SALK and H&R sway bars fitted as well).

Yes, easily.

I'm on 30mm H&R with an ed30 front and there was plenty of room.

Plus i get the extra 10mm drop...;)

I shall see what my wallet is like next year.

Got spraying work, new oil pick up pipe, new cam follower, and a few other things going on next month, let alone exhaust going on this month!

Cheers for the replies all, looks like i will be ok.  Makes me wonder why the r-tech guys thought it would be an issue!

They had me proper stressing when I told them my car was lowered on springs (previous owner), but it worked out fine.
