I tried a pair of led fog lights and they looked good but the light output was awful and they threw an error light on the dash. Replaced them with a normal bulb by Philips and they work perfectly and actually light something up.

The eBay listing you gave will not throw up errors as the extra resistors will take care of that,  as to light output etc I can't make any comments on that other than give them a go
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

Basically I'm going more for the look as I have projector headlights with hid 500k bulbs led sidelights and now just put a set of drl fog grills and the fogs now look silly as everything is bright white and these yellow. And I noticed one fog was cracked so thought complete upgarde rather than just bulb

You don't use the fogs often enough to worry about the slight mid match in colour?

There are some good upgrade fog bulbs though that would do a better job (when you do need them) and should be able to find one that matches better
