Rear engine mount
« on: December 23, 2015, 02:40:21 pm »
Afternoon all (Mk5 TFSI)
I recently fitted the Polyurethane insert into my rear engine mount Proflex insert not a new bush and it seems to have stiffened it up a bit. Before I was getting a bitt of a judder when changing gear 1st-2nd. Now I have a bit of a knock on initial start up, I thought it was the exhaust so I got is checked out and the guy at the Tyre/Exhaust place said it was because the stiffer bush was fitted the exhaust was knocking? has anyone suffered from this? If I changed the engine and gearbox mount would this reduce the movement of the engine/gearbox and stop the knock?

Check your gear box mount as this will be weakened by the lower one. I changed both mine and now solid  :happy2:
