Fancy a change of wheels... these fit?
« on: January 05, 2016, 08:39:25 pm »
I've fancied changing the wheels on the ED30 for a few weeks now and like the look of a slight dish.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271111358103?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D271111358103%26_rdc%3D1

8 X 18" 5X112 ET45 ALLOY WHEELS

I understand that the prescara standard 18" wheels have an ET of 45?

I am running 45mm spacers all round, especially at the front to clear the brembos.  I want the wheels to sit flush with the arches as they do now.

Thanks.

Pescaras are 7.5, et51.

8 and et45 is a nice fit. I've got VZs and they're 8 et44, and pretty close to flush.

Just a note about those LM reps - they could be quite heavy, and as they're slightly dished you might find the spokes come a bit close to, if not completely foul your calipers.

So as they are slightly wider, I take it I can swap my current tyres and there will be a slight bit of stretch?

As I can't run without spacers at the front I'm worried they will stick out too far and it will look weird.

Anything like a 225 40 will be ok. What tyres do you have?

It's not something you can always work out on paper, caliper clearance. You can get an idea, at best, from width and offset, but spoke design ultimately makes it no or go.

LMs for example have that little staggered dish - and as such it means the spokes are closer to the hub than a Pescara or VZ (and most oem wheels).

Sometimes it's just a case of try it.

I see what you mean.

If I had standard brakes I think I'd get them, but I think I'll look at non dished wheels. Thanks 4 advice.

Maybe worth asking round a bit first. You say Brembos - are they NQSBBK, TTRS, 18z? Some give much better clearance than others.

Nothing's impossible. Just might mean pulling the wings a bit

a mate of mine has these exact wheels for sale. hes just bought a jetta with them fitted they are like a month old I think so mint condition. all tyres new aswell if you wanted to do a deal with the tyres if not I can strip them off for him :) pm me if interested!

if you agree on a price I can check brake clearance for you :)

what brakes do you have fitted?
I run 4 pot brembos on my ed30, and my brother has just bought a standard ed30 so can try them on either for you :D

Well I have about 4mm clearance from caliper with 15mm spacers on if that gives you an idea with the prescaro wheels.

About same as me then. I might a tad more like 6mm

Anyone got a pic of a LM Reps on an ed30 with standard suspension? Can't really lower my car at the moment so don't want it to look stupid etc.
