Multiquote

is it an option within threads we can have?

You can if you just scroll down from the type box and click 'quote' on other peoples posts? Or did you want it in a different way?

i know that you can click "quote" on a post and then it appears in the quick reply, to multiquote you would then have to scroll back up and do it again on the next message and so on. what your left with is a jumbled amount of text in a small quick reply box. granted you could just copy the text and then hit reply and then paste and write what you need but seems way to fussy.

i was wondering if there was 2 quote options available basically, "quote" to carry on and quote singularly with the current method and something like "+quote" to multiquote. method being you click on the "+quote" on each message you want to respond to and the hit reply for the main function to open up with the quotes inside. saves any copying and pasting

Multi quote on SMF works like WhiteGTI says.

Under quick reply it doesn't work very well, So if you click reply then when you scroll down to review the recent replies to the topic you will see option to "insert quote". This allows you more control on which previous posts you want to quote.

If there is something different you have seen on other forums then let me know some details and I will see what I can do

The old vbulletin software that Briskoda used had a quote button, next to it was a multiquote button, so you just clicked all the quotes you wanted to multiquote and on the final one clicked quote and all your quotes appeared in a new reply box. Bingo.

about right, but hitting reply as per normal rather than hitting quote as the final action

I mentioned something like this before but had to be content with the current system. The best use of multiquote I have seen is as VC says.

You scroll through a thread, reading posts as you normally do. As you're reading, if you see something you wantto reply to, hit 'quote' and carry on reading. After hitting 'quote' for the last text you wish to quote, hit 'add reply' and all of the selected posts are quoted. Very useful in multipaged threads and a lot easier than having to copy and paste individual quote replies.
