Red 6R
« on: January 17, 2016, 01:57:11 pm »

O.K i'll copy and paste this from the R Forum but this forum seems to be way more active so might as well start a thread here.

Well after much searching i eventually bought this 2010 DSG R 5 door last saturday.

There were two very tempting cars on here but they were both 3 door and i really need a 5 for the baby stuff [:(]

It was from a VW main dealer so get 2 year warranty (Ohhh but stage2+ is calling) which is lucky as on sunday night when the Mrs was cruising at about 50mph the car lost drive, D was flashing and it was like it was in neutral. Turned it off and on and Its been fine since then so i'd like to check for codes then throw it back at VW to fix as i deffo dont want it happening as shes Heavily pregnant and has just lost all faith in the car already!

Anyway out with the bad stuff on to the pics...

Before it left the dealers it got a full service, Wheels re-painted and a few scuffs done but i asked for nothing else as i'll get it detailed over christmas.

Plans are:

See Good friends at PWPro for a detail and seal (maybe a front end protection wrap)

    Kersher front splitter

    Black badges Done

    BBS/TD1.2s

BCS exhaust (nearly done if the Groupbuy happens)

    EVOMS Intake

    HPFP

    Stage? Remap

    DSG Remap

I'm unsure if i take it to anywhere but VW for a service if the VW warranry will still apply. I'd rather take it to Stattlers or another trusted specialist but i need to find out if this warranty is even worth the paper its written on yet.

I want to keep this as updated as i can to share the knowledge along the way.

Cheers

Ok so since the above...

Shes had a quick one stage polish and sealed. This was just to check the condition of the paint and make it easier for me to wash whilst i waited for the front and rear to be resprayed.

Also changed the badges for black ones. Bought off ebay for about £12 and they do the job perfectly. I just need to fit some red vinyl on the rear between the gaps.

And heres how shes sat now. Having Bonnet, Bumpers, and wings resprayed to remove chips etc. Then hopefully if ££ allow i'll get a full front end Paint protection film install from PW Pro.

Plans are still as above. I'm going for the exhaust first as they are on the group buy. Then probably the air filter. Might go for a forge Twincooler as well then a remap. I'm thinking Statlers or R-tech.

Also got some custom mats (black with red stitching) ready to go in.

 :drinking: thats all for now

Saw your car on the R forums, can't get over how good 6R's look in TR. Where are you getting the respray done out of interest?

Thanks guys!

And thanks for letting me know about the bits on The R forum. Hopefully fetching them all this weekend. Looks like i'll be 2+ sooner than i thought.

now.... R-tech or stattlers?

DSG remaps? .... And intercoolers. Twintercooler or another brand? Preferably i dont want to have to modify anything and have a straight fit.

Just been out in Jays red 6R (from R Forum). His is pretty much as quick as my 7R and he is running stock map with turbo back APR exhaust & intake. . .

He is taking his to R-Tech, should be around 370-380bhp after intercooler & RFD :happy2:

Ok just a quick update.

Now got the BCS exhaust fitted and plumbed in. Sounds amazing on full chat, nice DSG farts but still standard when cruising (The baby hasn't noticed anyway).

Also fitted an Evoms intake.

Got a TTs engine cover ready to go on. Just spraying it Red and black then its going on.
Got the mats in which fit nicely.

Bought a new DAB ariel ready to fit when i eventually buy a new bluetooth unit rather than the stupid VW little stick on screen sh*te :booty:

Oh and got Team Dynamics 1.2s fitted and a set of H&R springs ready to go on.

Starting to feel a bit of a hesitation around 2-3k so ive ordered a few parts:

PCV
Rev G diverter
Fuel Filter
Spark plugs
Cam follower

Thanks to bonelorrys list on his thread.

So all that leaves now is which is the best bluetooth module to get and which is the best intercooler?

I'm thinking Peron? And who can explain the differences in bluetooth modules to me?

I'll get some pics when it stops hailing/raining

Looks good and will no doubt fly once your done.

Fiscon Kufatec basic plus is supposed to be good for Bluetooth. I've just picked one up on eBay used. Can save a bit of your willing to wait for one to come up as they aren't cheap new (250+  :surprised:)

Well i'm meant to be at R-texh on thursday for 2+ mapping but i've been let down on my peron intercooler. Been waiting a few weeks for it now and unfortunately it hasnt appeared

So i'll be ringing R-texh on monday to discuss my
Options.

In other news ive fitted all the new service items, plugs, HPFP and follower and then today i did the RS4 valve! The rs4 valve was a proper ball ache to do without removing the inlet manifold but we managed it!
