« on: January 31, 2016, 11:16:16 am »
Hi all.

My friends car has been robbed last night from his house ... If anyone happens to spot this car driving around, please could you let me know. Robbed from Halesowen, West Midlands last night.

There's been so many 7Rs, GTIs & GTDs stolen

All of them been 'on display! Outside houses, and keys stolen from in the house. Typically between 4-5am, and majority have been in close proximity to Birmingham  :fighting:

The sooner these become less desirable, the better

Thankfully the power of Facebook helped my mate find his car
Lad who had seen the post shared on facebook walked past the car abandoned outside a park about 5 miles away from where it was taken

Apparently they leave the car for 3-4 days, and if it's untouched/still there they know it hasn't been tracked.

Mate doesn't really want to keep it anymore though, in case it happens again
Will have knocked value off car now as well, as HPI check will show it as stolen and recovered.

Shame that as it's a nice looking motor too.

Glad it's been found.  :happy2:

Glad its back, and on the bright side, if having broken into my house in the middle of the night,  "all" the toe rags did was knick my car, I'd be relatively pleased!

Out of curiosity...
If a lot of these V desireable mk7's are getting taken like this, then...
IF this was a lease car, what happens next?
Both with the immediate/short term return of the car to the owner, and later at lease end when it was returned to the finance co, if it is indeed devalued as a stolen/recovered?

Being "old school", and having seen the gti carnage the first time around (I had a Triumph TR 6 way back then!), I still usually put a disc lock on my eddy.
Old habits...but the key lives with that for ignition

Stolen recovered isn't stored on the database

Oh really? If that is the case I'll let my mate know. Might change his mind into keeping it.

That's great news :drinking:

I've heard of lots heading straight to the docks to be loaded into a container (ANPR catching them near Liverpool).

You can buy trackers for less than £100 with decent battery life - maybe worth suggesting it to your mate? Or a steering wheel lock - won't prevent theft, but adds time & effort to a theft. . . May be enough to deter some thieves  :happy2:

Yeah he may well look into getting a tracker installed.
Looks like the theives ripped all the boot up trying to find one

Only damage to the car apparently, plus a kerbed alloy ... Which they managed to do in the space of 48 hours !

you are lucky to see that again must of been amateur night

me and my mate both had new mk7 r's 2nd March 2015 his got stolen after 25 days same thing as yours (keys from house in early hours)

this was in Willenhall 15 miles from Birmingham and vehicle has never been recovered

as its a lease car ths insurance coughed up and he ended up losing the £2400 deposit he paid

so thats £2400 for 25 days approx 375 miles and has to disclose a £25K+ claim on his insurance for 5 years

these cars attract the worse kind of thieves

Just thought that was the way it worked tbh. If it would register as stolen a check, why wouldn't it register as stolen and retrieved.

No way  :sad1:

I spoke to my mate this morning and he said he is getting rid of it after the ordeal.
Has n desire to keep it anymore.

Becoming more and more frequent in the surrounding areas to Bham now to see vehicles going missing.
My mates mk2 golf was nicked about 2 months ago. Again, heavily modified.
