Monza Wheel Info
« on: February 24, 2016, 05:50:51 pm »
Hello

(Vw/Newbie)

Recently bought a Mk5 GTI and so Ive been thinking about new wheels or to refurbish my ones, which are Genuine VW 17" Monza.

And so I came across a local wheels exchange dealer, and he's offered me the same wheels which are already refurbished but 18" for £250 without tyers and I'd give him mine.

I like them, and it would avoid buying some new wheels, so wanted to know if anyone can tel if they are genuine from the photos and if the price seems good for refurbished ones. I know I'd have to buy some new tyers which is fine.

I have a few photos, one shows the inside of the wheel, to which I failed to find a VW logo, so wondering if anyone can tell if they are the genuine or not.

Any thoughts?

Doesn't look genuine. It should have the VW stamp. It should have BBS or Ronal as well.

Have you asked him the question? Interesting to see what he says.

If he claims they're genuine, name and shame!

They don't look genuine to me plus they haven't done the inserts when they were refurbished. The centre looks raised and it should be flush.

I'm not allowed to say because I got a special price through a mate :ashamed: They were done through Richard at Ruislip tyres, they send all of their wheels out to another company for refurbishment and act as an agent. If you're local call Richard for a quote.

Sorry I can't say more.

Good point,  I'll pop in again and ask if they are genuine and see what they say.

Meanwhile this is their website http://www.alloywheelrepaircentre.co.uk/

Thanks all for confirming their not pukka :-)

Personally I would avoid copies of any wheels, they are generally of inferior quality and more likely to buckle or crack, if they're not genuine walk away and find a genuine set  :happy2: I got mine from the for sale section on here.
