paintwork
« on: February 28, 2016, 04:37:23 pm »
Something out of the arse end of bird has managed to glue itself to the bonnet of me car. Its just been washed and its still stook like concrete! Don't want to chip at it in case I damaged the paintwork and not sure what kind of a patch t cut might make. Anyone any any thoughts on removal. Cheers Phil

Get a couple of sheets of kitchen roll, fold it roughly to the size of the 'incident', if not a bit smaller. Wet the kitchen roll through under the hot tap, then put it right on the birdsh*t, just enough to let the moisture saturate it.

Give it 30 mins.

Take the kitchen roll off, and it should shift. Dry off the affected area once all the birdsh*t is removed.

Then you should see if there's any etching to the paint. A light cutting compound like T-Cut should help. Wash the car. Follow that with your usual polish and wax procedure.

Go gently with the T-Cut. It's usually just a quick pass that's needed. Damn birds!

No need to polish! Try a hairdryer on the "etched" area first, let me try to find the link where I read this detailing trick...

Edit: found it!

Some of these comments had me laughing  there are a lot of trees where I live, birds are evil.

My front hedge attracts housemartins. Dirty, noisy, pointless things.

Don't mind a bit of Fatboy Slim though.
