« on: April 07, 2016, 11:50:34 pm »
Thinking about upgrading the brakes on the eddy! What do people suggest is a good upgrade for the fronts?

Cheers in advance

some s3/r32 would be a bit of upgrade. it depends on how much you prepared to spend. and how big you want to go

Yeah that is true, what size are the s3/r32?

As above, all depends on your budget and how big you want to go.

S3/R32 calipers are 345mm discs or your can use Audi TTS Discs which are 340mm with this caliper. The 340mm discs are lighter than the 345mm discs and also prevent any form of lip on the edge of the disc which you get on the 345mm. IMO the TTS disc is the way forward if you're going with the S3/R32 calipers.

There is also the NQSBBK which is another decent upgrade. More info here:

Its a big thread, but well worth your time reading it  :happy2:

Again, there is bigger setups which you can go for. Just depends on how deep your pockets are and how much stopping power you need/want

Cheers mate! Yeah running 330bhp in the eddy on standard brakes is shocking!

A little while ago, I replaced my Gti brakes with the 345mm S3 setup. If you get a decent set of odd in, they're a big upgrade. I've not had any brake fade yet, but had it a few times with the 312's.

Ok sounds good may have to get the s3 ones then, what's the difference between the 345mm and 340mm apart from size? Haha

@Shoduchi good to see some 18z brakes with non-drilled disks. I'm about to put this brake setup on my 4Motion and got non-drilled, but was wondering if I should have gone with the drilled, purely for the looks, but guess we get a bit more surface area without

How do you find them and the pedal feel compared to OEM?

I also fitted the R32 rear brake setup that has bigger pistons. With my 23,8 mm3 MC works really well with the setup. I've done a track day and I can't fault the brakes. It has a great pedal feel. The car stops better than accelerates. :happy2:

Just check if your MC shows a 23 or a 22 in the outside. Older mk5 GTIs received the 22 mm3 MC instead of the bigger version (on later GTIs and all R32).

Brembos 18Z with 350 mm discs:

How much did the entire front brake setup cost you mate? Calipers, discs, pads, mountings the lot.
