Re-starting after 6 months
« on: April 10, 2016, 09:43:12 am »
Hey folks, looks like a great forum here. I've had a mkv gti for a couple of years, but in November I decided to change it, and long story short it was a mistake.

I hung onto the golf, and although it's been started fairly regularly it hasn't been driven in about 6 months, is there anything in particular I should watch out for?

If its been parked up all the time, just make sure the brakes work ok and do a basic check over ie oil tyre pressure etc and take it for a drive make sure every thing is operating as it should

Due to my work, i often have to leave mine for months on end. As above do checks and will be fine, just make sure you give it a gentle warm up and down before heavy driving  :happy2:

Cheers folks, yep all drove fine, the brakes feel a little warped under light braking though, but I only took it on a gentle 10 mile stint due to time....great to be back in it.

Mine also sits for months on end in my garage. I plug in a battery charger every couple of weeks and keep an eye on the fluids and tyre pressures. Not had any issues due to lack of use touch wood.
