low speed full lock noise
« on: April 17, 2016, 04:41:56 pm »
Hi guys

I had some MK6 R calipers fitted to my ed30 a month ago and ever since then I have been getting a groaning noise when I go full lock when I turn to pull into spaces or into roads for example.

I know it can't be the steering rack as I had that replaced last year. I have googled and seen things about CV joints or power steering fluid?

Anyone shed any light? Is there something related to the brakes that could  have caused this or it just a coincidence?

cheers

There is no power steering fluid. It is electronically assisted steering.

Are the dust shields fitted behind the disks? They sometimes catch?

I'd be interested in this too - has recently started on mine when turning right at low speed. Sounds like either a binding caliper, bearing, or CV joint on passenger front. I would be surprised if the brakes were at fault on mine as they were freshly refurbished by a specialist company.
Will be booking mine in soon, so will let you know if anything cures the similar noise on mine.
